I was part of the team migrating a Drawings database
called EDDIS (Oracle 7.3.4) into LiveLink, a web-based repository that uses an
Oracle 9i database, including data from MIMS (Oracle 8i), the asset register.
My remit was to configure the environments, write the specification of the data
migrations, write the migration project and test plans, create the database
extracts, and perform the data loads. I then moved onto designing, building and
administering our own hosted Livelink system (SQL Server 2005). This included
developing extensive workflows in Livelink, with supporting Java and LAPI code
to automate various processes.

to be used for subsequent analysis and research. The database was written in
MySQL, and PHP was used on the site to access it, and to provide security to

The major
part of my research was a theoretical investigation of ultrasonic diffraction,
involving Physics, Maths, and Computing. I designed and coded software that
produced the first ever three-dimensional surface maps of diffraction fields,
resulting in two published papers.
